1. Who we are, what this covers

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of LocalSelections (localselections.com), a decision-maker and local-recommendation platform (the “Service”), operated by City Reviewers LLC (“LocalSelections,” “we,” “us”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

2. The Service

LocalSelections helps you pick where to eat, watch, or go using randomizer-style games (a spinning wheel, dice, rock-paper-scissors, and a weighted decision matrix), then pairs the outcome with a real nearby restaurant, event, or movie/TV suggestion pulled from third-party data sources described in our Privacy Policy. You can use the core decision loop without an account. Creating an account and/or subscribing to LocalSelections Pro unlocks additional features described on our About page.

3. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address to create an account and are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you create an API key to access our public API, you are responsible for all activity performed with that key and for keeping it confidential.

4. Subscriptions & billing

LocalSelections Pro is a recurring subscription billed at $4.99 USD per month through our payment processor, Stripe. Your subscription automatically renews each month until cancelled. By subscribing, you authorize us (via Stripe) to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for how cancellation and refunds currently work, including an important note about the current lack of a self-service billing portal.

5. Third-party recommendations & AI features

Restaurant, event, and movie/TV information shown by the Service comes from third-party providers (currently Google Places, The Movie Database (TMDB), and Ticketmaster) and may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate — always confirm hours, availability, and details directly with the business or venue before relying on them. Some features generate short explanatory text using an AI model (Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude, depending on the feature and what’s currently active); this text is generated automatically, may be inaccurate, and should not be treated as professional advice of any kind.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use the Service to violate any law; attempt to circumvent rate limits, subscription gating, or authentication; scrape or bulk-extract data beyond what our public API and its documented rate limits permit; misrepresent a business you don’t own or control when claiming a vendor listing; or interfere with the Service’s normal operation.

7. Vendor listings & boosted placement

Businesses may claim and manage their own listing, subject to our manual review. Vendors may pay for boosted placement of their listing in results; boosted results are always visually labeled “Sponsored” and are never presented as an organic, unpaid result.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or availability of third-party data (restaurants, events, movies/TV) or of AI-generated text. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOCALSELECTIONS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for any account that violates these Terms. See the Refund & Cancellation Policy for cancelling a paid subscription specifically.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above when we do. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
